Fairy Vase - Terracotta

Terracotta is a ceramic material that literally means "baked earth."

This Terracotta Fairy Vase is  made from natural clay, which gives it a characteristic reddish-brown color. (The color varies slightly depending on the clay used).

The design on this vase is an Art Nouveau design. Art Nouveau, is an ornamental style of art that was popular between the 1890's and 1910. Art Nouveau is characterized by long, asymmetrical, organic lines, with undulating shapes which often take the form of flower stalks, leaves, flowers, buds, vines, wings, and other delicate interesting curves and turns of natural objects; The lines in this vase are both elegant and graceful, and are infused with a powerfully rhythmic force with the magical fairy sprite perched on the flowers by the handle.

Terracotta may be glazed for extra durability or to provide color. It is a waterproof and very sturdy material, and many ancient sculptures made from it are still in excellent shape.
